Note : Cecil Gosling was UK Ambassador to Bolivia between 1919 and 1924. He also travelled in South Africa and other regions of Africa and South America. He had a residence in the Schloss Walchen in Austria. His book "Travel and Adventure in Many Lands", published by Methuen & Co. in the U.K. in 1926 then by E.P. Dutton in New-York the same year with twelve illustrations by austrian artist Maximilian Van Poosch was a big success and a must-read for young British and American readers fond of travel books. We proudly present here eleven out of the twelve original drawings.

Maximilian Edler Van Poosch-Gablenz was an Austrian illustrator and painter, born in 1872 and deceased in 1968. He was a portrait painter and a war painter during World War I. He's famous for his aviation subjects.
